    The OUCH! Race Philadelphia is the first race of its kind.  In this “progressive race”, you will get to choose from three distances – 5k, 10k and 15k while you walk or run.  The USA Track and Field certified courses will take runners through Fairmount Park.  The 15k option will take runners along the scenic West River Drive.  A family-friendly 1-mile “Boo-Boo Race” geared toward families and children under the age of 12 will also be held.  This exciting event will raise funds to support the mission of the Bates-Jensen Wound Reach Foundation and their efforts to create a world without wounds.

  • Philadelphia OUCH! Race Event Details

    The OUCH! Race Philadelphia is the first race of its kind. In this “progressive race”, you will get to choose from three distances – 5k, 10k and 15k – while you run. The USA Track and Field certified courses will take runners through Fairmount Park, with the 15k option taking runners along the scenic West River Drive. This exciting event will raise funds to support the mission of the Bates-Jensen Wound Reach Foundation and their efforts to move toward a world without wounds. In addition to the progressive walk/run, race weekend events include:

    • Health and Fitness Expo:
      The headquarters for everything you need in order to prepare for race weekend is at the OUCH! Race Health and Fitness Expo. The Expo is where you'll pick up your official race number and packet, check out official OUCH! Race Merchandise, and get a sneak peek at the latest in apparel and fitness equipment. The Expo will also showcase a speaker series that includes seminars on training, racing, nutrition and wound care.
    • 1 mile Boo-Boo Race:
      Bring your whole family out for this relaxing 1 mile walk/run, which will take place on the same course as the 5K. Run, walk, stroll or saunter while you enjoy the sights in Fairmount Park - strollers welcome!

    Awards

    Awards will be given to the top (3) male and top (3) female finishers in the 15k distance. Prizes will also be given to the top finisher in the following age group of the 15k distance. Commemorative technical t-shirts will be given to all race participants registered on or before August 23. All finishers of all distances will receive a finisher’s medal and a downloadable finisher’s certificate.

    • 6:00 a.m. – Day of Registration & Packet Pick-Up
    • 7:00 a.m. — OUCH! Race Start
    • 7:10 a.m. — 1 mile Boo-Boo Race
    • 7:30 a.m. — 5K awards ceremony
    • 8:00 a.m. — 10K awards ceremony
    • 9:00 a.m. — 15K awards ceremony
    • 10:00 a.m. — Race Course Closes
    • 12:00 p.m. — Event Ends

    Packet Pick-Up

    Participants will need to pick up a race packet at the Expo on Friday, August 22 or Saturday, August 23. Please check back closer to race day for specific times and Expo location. 

    Please note:

    • Race packets will not be mailed and no packets will be distributed on race day.  
    • Participants will receive an email confirmation one week prior to Race Weekend with more details regarding race packet pick-up.
    • Participants must present their race pick-up ticket or email confirmation along with a valid photo ID in order to receive their race packet. 
    If you cannot attend the Expo, a person whom you designate with proof of their identity may pick up your packet for you.  The pick-up person should bring the following:
    • A letter signed by the participant authorizing the pick-up person permission to do so.  
    • A valid photo ID.
    • The participant's confirmation number or a print-out of the email confirmation.

    Directions

    The OUCH! Race start and finish line is in front of the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia’s Centennial District in Fairmount Park.

    From Southern Locations: South Jersey, Delaware, Baltimore, Washington, D.C.
    Follow I-95 North. Takes exit 13 to I-76 West. Take exit 342 to Lansdowne Dr. Follow Lansdowne Dr. to Avenue of the Republic.

    From Northern Locations: North Jersey, New York, Connecticut 
    Follow New Jersey Turnpike South. Take exit 4 for New Jersey 73. Keep right and merge onto Highway 73 North. Slight left onto 90 West (signs for Betsy Ross Bridge). Merge onto I-95 South. Take exit 22 onto 676-West. Keep left at fork and follow signs for I-76 West. Take exit 342 to Lansdowne Dr. Follow Lansdowne Dr. to Avenue of the Republic.

    From I-676 West (Vine Street Expressway)
    Keep left at fork and follow signs for I-76 West. Take exit 342 to Lansdowne Dr. Follow Lansdowne Dr. to Avenue of the Republic.

    From Western Locations: Valley Forge, King of Prussia
    Follow I-76 East. Take exit 341 toward W. River Dr. Turn right onto Montgomery Dr. Turn left onto Belmont Ave.

    Parking
    Free street parking will be available on a first-come/first-serve basis in the immediate area in Fairmount Park. Parking lots are available on Montgomery Dr.

    Volunteer

    If running isn’t for you but you still want to participate, please consider signing up to be a volunteer for race weekend. We'll need plenty of extra hands! All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt as a small token of our appreciation for your support for the Bates-Jensen Wound Reach Foundation!
